Who we are
SmartSaver.ie is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice. For any privacy-related question or to exercise your rights, contact us at hello@smartsaver.ie.
What we collect and why
- Analytics — to understand how the site is used and improve it. Only collected if you accept cookies. Legal basis: consent.
- Click logs — when you visit a provider's website from one of our links, we record the click and the country it came from. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Chat — if you use the chat assistant, your messages are processed to generate a reply. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Security and request logs — short-term logs used to keep the site available and prevent abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
We use the following categories of service providers to operate the site:
- Analytics providers, including Google and Microsoft.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers based in the EU and the US.
International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the recipient is certified, or another lawful transfer mechanism under Chapter V of the GDPR.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above, after which it is deleted or aggregated. Third-party providers retain data according to their own defaults and policies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict or object to processing;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already happened;
- lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie).
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@smartsaver.ie. Because we do not collect names or emails, we may need additional information from you (for example, a session identifier) to locate any data relating to you.
Cookies
Cookies that are not strictly necessary only run if you click Accept on the banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the SmartSaver cookies in your browser, which will cause the banner to appear again.
